So the title of my blog, "A walk in my shoes, the simple life" isn't always true. Life, obviously is anything but simple. But for us, this is as simple as it gets!
Things are going alright. Daddy is goin to help us get the Dodge fixed. And in turn, we can now afford to go down to my grandmothers for Christmas. Whom we haven't seen in several years. I can't wait!! We may not always be on top, but we find our way back up, and are able to keep our head out of water.
Took a load of wood to a friend last night. And the kids were running around. Andrew had his hands in his pockets while running on the gravel. I turned around and told them to quit running around before someone got hurt. About 5 minutes later, Andrew trips, hands still in his pocket. I turn around just in time to see his head literally bounce off the gravel drive. As he starts screaming I run to his side, and pull him up by the porch in the light. I used my jacket sleeve to dab the blood off his face, and he has a gash in his forehead above his left eye. Its not big, only about a quarter of an inch, BUT, its deep. You can see the skin tissue, and its deep enough you can almost see bone. It managed to be a clean cut (meaning it was a straight edge, obviously, falling on gravel it was dirty). So I take my glove off and fold it up. Holding it against his forehead, and applying pressure. Told Ac we needed to go to the ER. He hurries to the truck, drops the trailer, and we head for town. The whole time I'm rocking Andrew, while putting pressure on his cut. Talking to him, and trying to get him to respond. Afraid he has a concussion. Thankfully, we pass a house that quite literally looks like a gingerbread house the way its lit up. So he started having a convo with me about eating a gingerbread house that big, and how hes not big enough, blah blah. I just wanted to keep him awake. Get to the ER. And end up waiting about a half hour in the waiting room. They finally get us into another room, and we wait another almost hour before they get the doctor in there. He decides that its a clean enough cut, all they need to do is flush the dirt out and glue it up. Good as new. As soon as the glue dries, we head out. And whats Andrew do?? Stuffs his hands in his pockets and starts running again. Hard headed little turd! He was hyper as ever, and ready to roll once they got him all fixed up and done bleeding. And is now convinced that chicks dig scars, so he can't wait for school on Monday. LOL His head hurt when he got up, so I give him some Ibupropren. He was good once it kicked in. Can't touch it or bump it or it will hurt, and its swollen up really good. But not bruised (visually anyway), and still sealed up. I'm glad it wasn't worse. It obviously could have been. He's my tough guy! I was so proud of how well he did last night when the doc was digging in it to clean it, and seal it up. He didn't cry any, just winced a few times.
I didn't get any photo while it was gaped open, as bad as it was bleeding. And we were more worried about joking and playing with him in case of concussion. But he didn't get one, or we just kept him coherent enough.
Went out with the hubby today to cut wood all day long to get our stock pile built back up. It was absolutely GORGEOUS out today!! Minimal wind where we were cutting, and the weather was beautiful without the wind! Got 3 loads cut, and got one load split and loaded back up to take to Leland later this week. Getting geared up for Christmas now. Let the kids open one of their gifts early today. Their snow boots they got from CFT, so that they didn't have to wear their good school shoes out in the timber and brush. They were just excited that they got to open a Christmas present!
So now here I sit, kids are sleeping. Hubby is passed out on the sofa, and I have to stay up late and wait for my big baby to get home from his dads. They had a Christmas dinner tonight, so I told his dad he could bring him home late, so they could stay at dinner a little longer. Gonna watch me some Renegade, and check on some Scentsy stuff for a while :) Happy Holidays everyone!!
